Recreation Leader at Tegelhusets Youth Center

Are you an engaged and responsible recreation leader driven by working with a strong youth focus and have experience in area-based work? Then this is the job for you! Tegelhusets Youth Center is currently looking for a recreation leader. The position is a permanent employment.

Job Responsibilities

Tegelhusets Youth Center is located in Rosengård and consists of three youth center activities. Two are based in the same building, one aimed at middle school students and the other targeting the age group 13–18 years. Additionally, youth center activities are conducted twice a week at Husie Youth Center. We are now looking for a recreation leader for the part that works with the age group 13–18 years, but you are also expected to support the younger program.

Tegelhusets Youth Center is entering a new phase and will continue to work on a method that broadens the activities in the coming year. Here, you will plan and implement youth center activities with a focus on open activities, group activities, and outreach work throughout the catchment area together with youth and colleagues. You and your colleagues will have close cooperation with local actors to create meaningful leisure for young people, but you will also be expected to initiate and drive projects for and with the target group. Therefore, you need to be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

You will meet young people with a coaching approach to support their ideas and projects and guide them towards meaningful leisure and a rich cultural life.

Within the youth center unit, you will also collaborate with other meeting places and youth centers for both large and small events as well as during holiday activities. Cooperation with other actors, both municipal services and civil society, is an important part of the assignment.

Your schedule includes regular day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a recreation leader degree from a folk high school, or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience working with our target group (youth aged 12-18 years)
  • Has good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written

It is meritorious if you:

  • Have previously worked with our target group (youth aged 13-18 years)
  • Have documented knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and participation
  • Have training in a coaching approach
  • Have been engaged voluntarily in any activity or association
  • Have experience in driving or being part of projects with or for the target group

As a person, you are structured and good at organizing things, both independently and with others. You spread warmth and joy and show that you care about the visitors of the youth center. Additionally, you are a good listener. You have good collaboration skills and find it easy to connect with new people, both youth and other professionals.

It is also important to us that you are someone who wants to do things together with the young people who visit the youth center.

The workplace - Youth Center Unit
Under the leisure administration's youth center unit, 18 youth centers are operated throughout the city with activities aimed at the target group aged 12–18 years. The youth centers offer meaningful leisure for young people and contribute to providing children and youth with opportunities to be included and participate in their leisure.
